The Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) organised the National Management Conference (NMC) on 5 December 2007 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The Conference, themed "Honouring Legacy, Creating the Future through Management Leadership", featured Mr Herbold, who delivered the keynote presentation entitled - "The Nine Traps of Success".
This one-day power packed management conference served as a platform for management practitioners from various industries to network, share and learn from one another. It highlighted best local and global management practices, latest ideas and future business trends and issues.
"This conference features an outstanding line up of both local and global management icons - Stuart Dean, President of General Electric Southeast Asia, Dato' Badlisham Ghazali, CEO of MDeC and Ms Tan Lei Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Goldis Berhad," said YABhg Tun Haji Mohammed Hanif Omar, MIM President.
YABhg Tun further added that the second panel consists of young upcoming management leaders who despite their youth, have already earned their stripes and who will continue to build upon the legacy of values and business fundamentals that their predecessors have endowed them. The evening session of the conference featuring Yang Mulia Raja Mazhar Mohar, Brand Manager of Petronas Dagangan Berhad, Mr
Rubendra Gnanalingam, Westports Malaysia Executive Director and Mr Chen Tien Yue, General Manager of Royal Selangor Marketing, all of whom spoke at the conference. Both YBhg Dato' Dr Munir Majid and Dr Wilson Tay moderated conference sessions one and two respectively.
MIM offered 100 final year exemplary students from various institutions of higher learning to be part of this Conference to experience and enhance the learning process in the field of management. These selected students gained vital management knowledge from many of the nation's pioneering management leaders to help launch their future working careers.
The event is made possible with the generous sponsorship from Philip Morris (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad and Brunsfield Group of Companies who the Institute hope that the support will continue to support in the future.
More than 400 conference participants attended this conference in which winners of the MIM-Public Bank "Manager of the Year Award" and the MIM-Ricoh National Management Game were recognised. Among other highlights were the launching of Teh Hong Piow - A Banking Throughbred, a biography of one of the nation's renowned banking and financial leaders, YBhg Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr Teh Hong Piow.
