MOU Signing Ceremony between MIM and IIA Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 10 April 2008 - The MOU Signing Ceremony for the MIM-IIA Malaysia Professional Diploma in Management Leadership Programme (Internal Auditing) has marked another milestone in the achievement of two of Malaysia's professional organisations' missions.

Officiated by Mr Devanesan Evanson, Chief Market Operations Officer of Bursa Malaysia, an MOU was signed by Dr Wilson Tay, Chief Executive Officer of MIM and Mr Walter Sandosam, President of IIA Malaysia, witnessed by Jen Tan Sri Dato' Zain Hashim, Chairman of MIM and Ms Yong Ngeak Choo, Executive Director of IIA Malaysia. This is the second strategic partnership between IIA Malaysia and Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) since their collaboration on the Diploma in Management Programme (Internal Auditing) in 2002.

"Recent amendments to the Listing Requirements have made internal auditing a mandatory function for all public listed companies. There are heightened expectations from stakeholders for internal auditors to play their roles in improving the governance, risk management and control processes in organisations." said Mr Walter Sandosam, President of IIA Malaysia. MIM has developed and customised the MIM-IIA Malaysia Professional Diploma in Management Leadership Programme (Internal Auditing) in collaboration with IIA Malaysia. The programme introduces the concept of Internal Auditing and management skills, a value-added investment to drive one's business to greater heights. It is aimed at developing effective management skills that cover the business, technical as well as Internal Auditing fields. This programme has been designed to assist participants to obtain comprehensive and practical knowledge and skills in managing an Internal Audit Portfolio. This Professional Diploma programme is recognised for direct entry into the CIA (Certified Internal Auditor, USA) qualification where participants can seek further professional certification through the CIA examination. This professional diploma programme provides an alternative path for those working individuals towards the CIA with a professional certification instead of having to follow the academic route.

"This is the first professional diploma in management leadership programme rolled out by MIM for 2008. We have planned for more professional diploma in management leadership programmes to be introduced with different specialisations throughout this year which includes specialisations in General Management, Sales & Marketing and Entrepreneurship." said Dr Wilson Tay, CEO of MIM.

MIM has revived the programme with new revamped and updated syllabus to reflect the changes in today's globalised world and the competencies expected of the 21st century manager leader which is very much different from before. The specialisations will definitely fulfill and value-add to the needs of today's managers who play multiple roles in their organisations.
