Ladies and Gentlemen
Assalamualaikum Waramatullahi Wabarakatuh dan salam sejahtera
A very good evening and welcome. This is the 3rd time since the past 3 years that MIM is hosting an Appreciation Night in the beginning of a new financial year to recognise and thank our clients and partners for their invaluable support in the previous year. Our sincere thanks go to all of you: our business associates, sponsors, partners, trainer-facilitators, friends, members of the MIM Court of
Fellows and General Council for your presence here today. We look forward to your continued support in 2008.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
2008 will be a busy year for MIM. The MIM-Public Bank Manager of the Year Award is running for the second year to recognise young and aspiring managers in the nation. We encourage you to send in your nominations to recognise talents within your organization.
Next we have the MIM-Ricoh National Management Game which is running for the second year, sponsored by Ricoh Malaysia. The management game is a computer simulated game to test one's business and management decision making skills. The national champion team will compete at regional level in a host country within Asia. Malaysia used to be the Asian champion in the past. We want the Malaysian team to
clinch the championship title again, and we urge you to send your team this year.
This April, MIM will play host to the AAMO General Council meeting in Kuala Lumpur. AAMO stands for the Asian Association of Management Organisation, a regional affiliation which has 15 country members including New Zealand, Australia, Japan, India, Singapore, Phillipines, Hong Kong and Macau. MIM will organise at the same time a half day regional management forum meant for CEOs and we hope you
will find time to participate.
In August, we will be hosting the Tunku Abdul Rahman Lecture for the 25th time. The TAR Lecture has always been the event of the year. We urge you to stay posted and make time to attend this intellectual exercise.
MIM launched the first Malaysian Management Capability Index survey in 2007. This year, a more comprehensive and extensive exercise is being carried out because of the collaboration with NPC, the National Productivity Centre. We hope to launch the result of this year's survey in a CEO Forum to be hosted in mid October.
MIM also will be hosting the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) this year. NACRA is an annual competition jointly organised by MIM and The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and Bursa Malaysia Berhad. NACRA gives public recognition of excellence in corporate reporting to companies listed on Bursa Malaysia,
non-listed corporations and other organizations. We hope to receive your entries early.
As your national management organisation, MIM's role is to lead, research and to advance management competency in the country, we call for your continued support to its various efforts.
Our corporate social responsibility programmes continue with the kind contribution from our most supportive partner, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) which is represented here this evening by Dr. Thomas Knirsch, our new KAS Representative to Malaysia. Our three annual KAS sponsored social development programmes TRYLA, THORA & RAMLEA, along with two public discourses will be conducted throughout
the year.
With so many programmes being planned for 2008, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Wilson Tay, CEO of MIM and his team for all the planning ahead. To everyone in MIM, continue the good work and I look forward to the excellent execution of the programmes.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Your valuable presence here today, speaks volumes of your trust and support for us. We thank you for spending time and we shall now invite you to sit back and enjoy yourselves as we have a vast array of scrumptious food and entertainment in store.
Wassalamualaikum Waramatullahi Wabarakatuh
